The needle-free injector is a medical device that achieves needle-free drug injection through high-pressure jet technology. It utilizes instantaneous high pressure to form a high-speed jet stream with a flow rate generally greater than 100 m/s, penetrating the skin. The concept was first proposed by French scientist Beclard in 1866, and in 1933, Robert Hingson developed the modern prototype based on the principle of oil pipeline jetting. During World War II, it was used for large-scale vaccination, and in 2012, the QS-M type product independently developed by China was approved for market launch. Its core structure includes components such as a drug tube, pressure device, and safety lock, and the operation process is divided into three steps: pressurization, drug suction, and injection. Needle-free injectors are superior to traditional insulin pens in reducing diabetes indicators such as HbA1c and postprandial blood glucose, and can reduce the amount of insulin required. The MQR-A series of products was launched in 2018, and the "X Needle-Free Drug Delivery Technology Platform" released in 2025 achieved the development of a drug-device combined injection pen. The main advantages include reducing pain, avoiding cross-infection, and subcutaneous induration, while the disadvantages are higher price and the need to learn new operation methods. This technology has been extended to the fields of growth hormone, GLP1, and other drugs, and has been tested in the field of aquatic vaccine injection.
