Biliary Stent
A biliary metal stent is a medical device used to treat biliary strictures or obstructions, typically made of metal materials such as nickel-titanium alloy or stainless steel. It is implanted into the biliary tract through endoscopy or percutaneous puncture to support the stricture site and restore bile flow. It is mainly used for patients with malignant biliary obstructions or some benign obstructions who are unable to undergo surgery. The stent's mesh structure can adaptively shape according to temperature or pressure, featuring a high long-term patency rate and low risk of displacement.
Biliary metal stents alleviate jaundice, infection, or liver function damage caused by bile stasis by expanding the narrowed or obstructed parts of the biliary tract. Compared to plastic stents, metal stents have a larger diameter and stronger support, making them suitable for long-term management of malignant biliary obstruction and significantly improving patients' quality of life.
